Our Programmes
Year 6 SATs - ReadingÂ

Our Year 6 Reading programme focuses on developing the key comprehension strategies pupils need to become confident, independent readers. Sessions explicitly teach retrieval, inference, prediction, summarising, vocabulary exploration and making connections within and across texts.
Through exposure to a range of increasingly challenging texts, pupils develop their ability to analyse language, interpret meaning and justify their responses using evidence. Oracy is central to this process, with structured discussion encouraging pupils to articulate interpretations, explore alternative viewpoints and deepen their understanding.
Alongside developing these essential reading skills, pupils learn how to approach SATs-style questions with accuracy, confidence and independence.

Year 6 SATs - MathsÂ
Our Year 6 Maths programme focuses on securing essential arithmetic knowledge and developing pupils' ability to apply this understanding to increasingly complex mathematical problems.
Sessions strengthen fluency in key mathematical concepts and procedures before developing reasoning and problem-solving skills. Pupils learn to interpret mathematical language, identify the information needed to solve word problems and select appropriate strategies to apply their knowledge in unfamiliar contexts.
Through explicit modelling, guided practice and structured mathematical discussion, pupils are encouraged to explain their methods, justify their reasoning and evaluate different approaches. This develops both mathematical understanding and the confidence to tackle challenging SATs-style questions independently.
Year 5 & 6 - WritingÂ
Our Upper Key Stage 2 Writing programme focuses on securing the foundational knowledge and skills pupils need to become confident, effective and independent writers. Sessions develop vocabulary, sentence construction, grammar and punctuation, alongside the ability to make deliberate choices about language and structure.
Oracy plays a central role in developing written composition. Through purposeful discussion, vocabulary exploration and oral rehearsal, pupils learn to generate, organise and refine their ideas before committing them to writing.
Pupils are guided through the writing process, from planning and drafting to reviewing, editing and improving their work. Through explicit modelling, guided practice and opportunities for independent application, pupils develop the confidence and skills to produce increasingly coherent, purposeful and effective writing.

Year 5 - Securing the Fundamentals

Our Year 5 programme focuses on securing the foundational knowledge and skills developed throughout Lower Key Stage 2, while preparing pupils for the increased demands of Upper Key Stage 2.
In Reading, sessions strengthen essential comprehension strategies, vocabulary knowledge and the ability to retrieve, interpret and discuss information from increasingly challenging texts. In Maths, pupils consolidate key arithmetic skills, place value understanding and mathematical fluency before applying their knowledge to reasoning and problem-solving activities.
Through carefully sequenced teaching, explicit modelling, guided practice and purposeful discussion, pupils develop secure foundations, make connections between concepts and build the confidence to approach more challenging learning with increasing independence.
